Online Tutoring and Classes

Online Tutoring and Online Classes are now available through Red Rock Learning.  Students are able to interact with their teachers/tutors and their fellow students through live video and email-based conferencing systems.  The Red Rock Learning Group operates an educational services department, Online Communication Solutions (OCS) where online tutoring and online classes offer Thee's families the opportunity to integrate technology into their learning programs.

The Road to High School and Beyond…

The Home Education Exchange has been, and continues to be, successful in working with students at the high school levels and helping to prepare them for post-secondary education, whether that is at college, universities, or technical schools.

The Fifth Building Block… Assessment

The Home Education Regulations require parents and students to provide evidence of learning that has occurred in the home.

The Home Education Exchange encourages families to utilize the Portfolio Method for assessment. The portfolio may contain sample work, tests or even photographs (i.e., science projects, experiments) of each subject being taught. Sample work from each subject quarterly is sufficient to complete the portfolio.

The Fourth Building Block…The Program Plan

Each year, The Home Education Exchange sends out a Program Plan form to parents along with the Notification Forms.

The Facilitator will work with new home education parents to build a successful and meaningful Program Plan. Because our Facilitators are familiar and experienced in home schooling, they are able to offer a vast array of suggestions and ideas to help make your years exciting and memorable.

The Third Building Block…The Facilitator

The Home Education Exchange will assign a Facilitator to families who are new to us each year.

The Home Education Exchange understands the value in building a working relationship with individual families, and will assign the existing facilitator to families as per previous registered years unless the family requests otherwise on their Notification Form.

In keeping with the Home Education Regulations, The Home Education Exchange requires two home visits and one telephone contact be made throughout each school year.

The Second Building Block…The Registration Process

According to the home education regulations found in Alberta's "School Act", a parent or parents has/have the right to provide a home-based learning program for their child or children.

You must register with a Registering Authority. The Home Education Exchange provides Notification Forms and a Home School Handbook in our Information Package. In completing your registration form…

The First Building Block… Funding

So you’ve committed to home educate your son(s) and/or daughter(s)… Great! Now what?
