Online Tutoring and Classes
Online Tutoring and Online Classes are now available through Red Rock Learning. Students are able to interact with their teachers/tutors and their fellow students through live video and email-based conferencing systems. The Red Rock Learning Group operates an educational services department, Online Communication Solutions (OCS) where online tutoring and online classes offer Thee's families the opportunity to integrate technology into their learning programs.
How it Works
The online tutoring and online classes program uses both synchronous (i.e. live video/web conferencing) and asynchronous (i.e. email and email conferencing) methods to provide instruction to the students. For the synchronous method, we use the Elluminate software (www.elluminate.com), and for the asynchronous software, we use the FirstClass software (www.firstclass.com).
Students interact with their teachers/tutors and their fellow students within these two e-learning environments:
1) Live video: Students log into our live Elluminate video conferencing system at the scheduled time during each week to actively participate in the tutoring session or the classroom instruction which is led by the tutor or teacher. The live Elluminate sessions include full video, audio, whiteboards, shared applications, and online presentations.
2) Email: Students communicate during the week outside of the live video conferencing times via the vibrant email-based conferencing system of FirstClass. Here, students will have their own email accounts, access their online classrooms where they will find lessons, assignments, updates, and comments from the tutor or teacher, and they will be able to interact with others via instant messaging, emails, social networking, and "The Cafe".
Teachers/tutors will most often interact with one another online within the "Teachers' Lounge" in the FirstClass learning environment. Teachers may also interact within Elluminate when they want or need real time and video based communication.
Proctors parents, or school supervisors will have access to a protected area that will be used for making tests and quizzes available online.
